Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer says 'vile' comments about stand-in co-host Miquita Oliver made him want to weep

Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer says he wanted to weep over 'vile' online comments made about co-host Miquita Oliver as she filled in for Tim Lovejoy.

TV chef Simon, the co-owner of Greens restaurant in Didsbury, was upset by 'personal attacks' on the former T4 presenter as she stood in for Tim while he was on holiday today (Sunday February 20).

Simon, who has presented the morning show with Tim since its launch in 2012, hit out on Twitter after the show.

He said: "Jesus I sometimes want to weep when I finish the job I love @SundayBrunchC4 - 3 hours of light hearted fun and the vile comments about @miquitaoliver today."

He urged: "Please just turn over, shut up and stop the personal attacks."

Simon was applauded for standing up for Miquita, who shot to fame as the host of Channel Four's Popworld in 2001 and presented the station's 16 to 24 strand T4 until 2010.

@Dan_Ha11 told Simon: "She was really good. People are horrible aren’t they.

"Well done for standing up for her, you two were a good team today I thought."

@ruthgrme commented about Miquita, who has appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with her mum Andi Oliver: "Absolutely love it when Miquita is presenting.

"She makes me smile and is a breath of fresh air. As Simon says turn over if you don't like her. No need to post on Twitter. Please."

@_Delilah gasped: "Unbelievable! Was giggling throughout the show today, a different dynamic with @miquitaoliver which was fab to watch.

"If people have nothing good to say then why make comments at all, if they don’t like it turn over there’s 100’s of available channels."

And @OysterViews asked: "Why do people think its OK to tag someone and spew negativity at them?

"I've been watching Miquita for yrs & think she's quality, a natural.

"But also hope she's had a great morning doing what she does best with her TV family & doesn't give a stuff what I think!"
