Sugar prices recovered from 1-week lows today and moved higher as short covering emerged after Green Pool Commodity Specialists raised their 2026/27 global sugar deficit estimate to a 4-year high of -6.3 MMT, up from -3.2 MMT, citing the impact of El Niño on Brazil’s harvest and the weak monsoon season in India.
