Kentucky has confirmed 174 measles cases in 2026, including 170 tied to the current outbreak, and hospitalizations have risen to 10, according to state data reported Oct. 19 by Kentucky Health News. The newest growth has come from western Kentucky. Compared with the state's previous weekly report, Christian County rose from 45 to 53 cases and Trigg County from 25 to 31.
The shift puts families in and around Hopkinsville and Cadiz back at the center of the outbreak's newest cases. The outbreak began in Christian County in July, and the latest figures show transmission there has not stopped. Unvaccinated children, infants too young for vaccination and pregnant relatives in the same homes as patients face the most immediate risk.
