Sue Cleaver's three stone weight loss down to one change that's a 'no brainer'

Actress Sue Cleaver recently wowed fans with her incredible weight loss and people are dying to know how she's done it.

Best known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street, the 59 year-old took to Instagram to boast a new look, sporting a baby pink matching pants suit, as well as a significantly smaller waist.

But these results haven't happened overnight. Cleaver's weight loss journey began in 2016 by making a lifestyle overhaul that helped her shed three stone, bringing her from a size 16 to a size 12.

Appearing as Prima's cover star last month, Clever revealed that she lost some weight while competing on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2022.

Despite surviving in the Australian jungle on meagre beans and rice, she prefers not to discuss this topic as "life is hard enough".

In an interview with the magazine she said: "There's always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it.

"That's why I’ll never promote anything weight-related, and it’s why I’d always rather compliment somebody on their smile or their outfit, rather than their weight."

Despite this mantra, Sue, who suffers from type 2 diabetes, has adopted more sustainable habits to slim down. In 2019, It was reported that one of the biggest steps she took to slim down was to follow a Mediterranean diet.

The eating plan focuses on foods based on the traditions of countries like Greece and Italy and is said to be a recommended diet for diabetes sufferers to balance insulin levels.

It incorporates plant based whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes, healthy fats like olive oil and nuts.

While she may not like to dish out dieting tips, it is reported that Sue knew she would have to make some changes.

They added that cutting down on certain foods was a "no brainer" for Sue. "She's in this for the long game and wants to live a long, happy and healthy life."
