Subscriptions are coming to mirrorless cameras. This new camera costs US$7 a month to run Nano Banana

The Caira camera on an iPhone in use.

Between software and storage, many photographers already have a subscription (or two or three or five) – but would you sign up for a subscription to get Nano Banana on your camera? One new camera is launching with a US$7 a month subscription to access its in-camera generative AI editing.

The previously teased AI-camera called Caira is now open for pre-orders, but the news of the camera’s crowdfunding launch also comes with a new bit of information: in order to access the built-in Nano Banana editing, users will need a subscription to Caira Pro, which is $7 per month (about £5.33 / AU$10.70 / CA$9.84).
