Strictly fans predict Hamza Yassin could be the next David Attenborough

Strictly Come Dancing star Hamza Yassin has become a fan-favourite to step into the adventurous shoes of David Attenborough following his impressive display on Saturday night.

The wildlife presenter completely wowed the judges after he paid homage to his BBC nature programming background as he danced the quickstep to On Top Of The World alongside Jowita Przystal.

Best known for his role of Ranger Hamza on CBeebies, the popular star has landed himself on top of the leaderboard for the second week running.

After his routine, head judge Shirley Ballas gushed: “You make our hearts sing, you make us smile, you make everyone at home, I’m sure, smile.”

Strictly viewers have now predicted that the wildlife expert could be the next national treasure, Sir David Attenborough.

Taking to Twitter, fans shared how Hamza would be the “perfect” replacement for the Frozen Planet presenter.

One user wrote: “Can we all agree that the universe sent us hamza to be our next david attenborough?”

“Hamza is the best. Could listen to his voice all day. Definitely the next David Attenborough,” another penned.

A third exclaimed: “My (nearly) three year old daughter has undying love for her Ranger Hamza. I've got a tenner on him being the next David Attenborough. So lovely.”

However, others were protective of the Blue Planet star, as one user defended: “There is only one David Attenborough. Hamza’s lovely but he’ll never touch the greatness of David Attenborough.”

The dancer has been highly praised by his co-stars, including fellow Countryfile TV personality Helen Skelton, who previously said: “He’s got the most calming positive… he’s so zen. Have you heard about his lifestyle? He lives in a village in the middle of nowhere and clearly the whole village relies on him for everything.

“He does their shopping, he picks up their prescriptions. I think he’s one of those people put on earth to remind people how to behave. He’s such a nice man."
