LUCKNOW: The first day of the 72-hour statewide strike by electricity department employees on Friday hit supply in many parts of Uttar Pradesh as striking staff claimed that nearly 10% power generation was affected.
The strike call has been given by Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti (VKSSS) which claims that the state government has failed to address its demands.
However, power minister AK Sharma claimed that there was no visible impact of the strike. “There was no major issue of power supply or generation. Most of the areas in the state were having regular power distribution. However, it was disappointing to see that staff of state load dispatch centers (SLDC) had vacated the office to join the strike,” he said.
