The Cardiff concert is one of five venues announced for next summer, with dates also announced for Bedford Park, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Live At Piece Hall and Lytham Festival. This is not the first time that Sting has performed at Cardiff Castle as he took to the stage in the heart of Cardiff in 2001. Now he will be back in the Welsh capital in the summer of 2023 to delight fans once again.
The tour, My Songs, will see Sting performing songs from his thirteenth solo studio album My Songs, which was released in 2019. Parts of the tour had to be postponed and rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2021 Sting released another album, The Bridge, and it is believed the setlist for the My Songs tour will also feature songs from The Bridge. Sting's other UK dates include Bedford, Scarborough and Lytham.
2023 is set to be a big year for live music in Cardiff with international pop star Harry Styles playing at the Principality Stadium and world-renowned band Coldplay also coming to the city. Many fans were left disappointed when they were unable to get tickets for the gigs and now some tickets are being resold for four times the price.
Standing tickets for Coldplay originally went for £104.50, a glance at Ticketmaster now shows the exact same ticket on sale for £419.95. And when tickets for Harry Styles went on sale to those with pre-sale access on Thursday, September 1, prices soon started to skyrocket at the same rate - with tickets for "Jonny's Place," the standing area nearest the stage, going from an already-pricey £155.50 to £342.
