Steven Gerrard spots crafty Celtic fans on the Kop and tells them exactly what he thinks of them

It was the first time Steven Gerrard had encountered the Celtic fans since he left Rangers for Aston Villa last year.

But the former Ibrox boss made sure he enjoyed himself against his former foes, scoring from the spot in front of the travelling support from Glasgow at the Anfield Road End, and he wasn't exactly shy and retiring in his celebrations. One or two couldn't help but launch missiles towards him - during a charity game - but the majority took their medicine in the way it was intended.

Mark Gonzalez was also on target as Liverpool Legends beat their Celtic counterparts 2-0 with domestic league action taking a backseat due to the usual international instalment of football in March. The ex-Rangers manager admitted afterwards that he thought the Hoops behind the goal deserved a bit back after the stick they'd given him. All's fair in Glasgow football love and war, but it wasn't just at that end of the pitch Gerrard was at the wind up.

As always when Celtic play outside of Scotland, their fans manage to get tickets regardless of where they are in the ground. Anfield has been no different when they've been on Merseyside for European fixtures. It was the same this weekend, and footage showed Gerrard telling the ones he spotted watching - clearly not subtly - from the Kop.

As he jogged over to take a corner, the former Reds captain wasn't taking the acclaim of the Liverpool support, but letting some Bhoys behind the goal know exactly where he wanted them to go.
