Pop group Steps have lifted the lid on what really happened back in their heady heyday

Lisa Scott-Lee, Claire Richards and Lee Latchford-Evans were the latest celebs to join Lemon and Cave in their time machine as they gave the low-down on what was really happening with chart-topping pop group Steps back in the year 2000.
The year before the start of the new millennium was an exciting one which saw them supporting Britney Spears on tour.
While four out of the five members were slumming it on a tour bus however, Ian “H” Watkins was living up with the pop princess on her private jet.
“He doesn’t sleep well and he refused to sleep on the tour bus. I mean, to be fair, we never really slept on it either. Just because we were off stage by eight o’clock every night. So we kind of had a few drinks, got to a different place and then checked into a hotel,” explained Richards.
“We spent three months on the tour bus we toured all of America and Canada which was an amazing experience…and H was on the private jet,” added Scott-Lee.
Scott-Lee also regailed an astounded Lemon and Cave with the time that she had dinner with actual Michael Jackson.
“He invited me for dinner in 2007 […] I still can’t quite believe it myself that this happens. I was invited to go to the F1 in Bahrain and he was really good friends with the Sultan of Bahrain […] a few celebs, a few musical artists are invited to go into the palace and they say, “Oh, by the way, Michael Jackson’s inside,” she recalled.
“I’m thinking No way. What do I say? So I go up to him, and I go, ‘I’m Lisa from Steps’ and he shook my hand and he was very sweet actually,” she continued.
While it’s unclear whether the late King of Pop was a Steps fan, she did manage to get a picture with him, albeit it a bit blurry as her best friend who took it couldn’t stop shaking.
Elsewhere in the podcast, the Deeper Shade of Blue hit-makers also addressed long-standing rumours that Richards and Latchford-Evans used to date, with Scott-Lee admitting that she and Latchford-Evans were actually an item in 2000.
“We used to have cuddles didn’t we? Spooning on the sofa!” she dished.
