NASA has confirmed that many of Stephen Hawking's stark warnings about existential threats to Earth are consistent with the space agency's own findings on climate change, resource strain and asteroid impacts, although it stops short of endorsing his specific prediction that humanity could face extinction by the year 2600.
Stephen Hawking made his 2600 warning in November 2017 during a video address to the Tencent WE Summit in Beijing, several months before his death on 14 March 2018.
