The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the release of veteran running back Anthony McFarland Jr. this afternoon.
McFarland never blossomed into the player the Steelers hoped when they drafted him in the 4th round of the 2020 NFL draft.
He landed on injured reserve after Pittsburgh’s Week 1 loss to the San Fransisco 49ers and has played in just three games this season.
McFarland has been a healthy scratch the past four games in favor of returner Godwin Igwebuike, whom the team signed off the Falcons practice squad in September.
In 17 games, McFarland logged 42 carries for 146 career yards and 11 receptions for 87 yards.
