In the NFL, incoming rookies face a gantlet of a transition. Players head straight from their final college season into offseason workouts in preparation for the NFL draft. Those who are selected move quickly into minicamps and OTAs, then training camp, the preseason and finally the regular season.
But don’t worry about Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive tackle Broderick Jones. Asked about the grind of his first year in the NFL, Jones played it off. Jones had already said earlier in the offseason that his old college coach Kirby Smart is more intense than Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
Jones followed it up by saying that Steelers practices are easier than what he did at Georgia, so he isn’t concerned about the grind of the season. He might not feel that way when he realizes NFL players put in more hours of football per day and how tough 17 regular-season games are going to be.

No word yet on whether Jones will be in the starting lineup when the Steelers square off with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.
