A Status Yellow rain warning has been put in place for two Irish counties, with the Met Eireann forecasting rain and a “risk of spot flooding”.
Issuing the warning, the national forecaster said that both Kerry and Cork were set to be battered by heavy rain throughout Sunday night which could lead to flooding in some areas. Mountainous regions were set to be the most affected.
The warning was issued on Sunday afternoon, at 4pm. However, the warning did not come into effect until 6pm. It will remain in place until early tomorrow morning at 6am.

Issuing the warning on Sunday, national forecaster Met Eireann said: “Spells of rain this evening and overnight, heavy at times, with a risk of spot flooding. Highest accumulations in mountainous regions.”
The warning comes after a spate of Yellow and Orange weather warnings were put in place this week that resulted in road and school closures. The warnings, which were in place for every county in Ireland were issued before snow fell on parts of the country on Friday.
