
Bethesda Game Studios' first foray into space was a little hit or miss with fans, but Starfield's composer reckons it's only a matter of time before people start to understand what Todd Howard was going for.
Asked about what it was like working with Starfield and Skyrim director Todd Howard, in an interview with RPG Site, composer Inon Zur called the famed game dev one of "the most creative and invigorating human beings in the industry" because "he just doesn't stop" and "always has new ideas."
Zur later says Todd Howard is a visionary who "sees things that people will start to find out years later." On that note, Starfield. The spacefaring epic launched to a somewhat lukewarm response thanks to its limited space exploration and procedurally-generated planets that weren't exactly familiar to fans of Fallout or modern Elder Scrolls. Zur thinks "people were just not ready for it," though.
"It's a different way of looking at it, but Todd is really strong," Zur says. "He believes in his way, and it just has proven time and time again that eventually people will understand his vision. It just takes time and this is a common thing for all the big visionaries. Sometimes people really don't understand them [visionaries] correctly, but they were strong enough to stay on course, and Todd will stay on course on Starfield. Starfield will eventually become something that will be legendary. I have no doubt. It's just a matter of time."
Starfield will reportedly rocket onto PS5 next month, but what might help the game's legacy even more are the still-mysterious upcoming updates that will use "outer space travel" in new ways, according to Howard.
Zur says he can't comment on the possibility of future Starfield DLC, "however there's always things to look for in the future."
