The state of South Carolina is banning abortions after six weeks - before most women know they are pregnant.
The senate in the state passed a bill on Tuesday that would prohibit most abortions after approximately six weeks of pregnancy.
The bill has been sent to the Republican governor, who has promised to sign it into law as soon as possible.
