Sir Bob Geldof says he is still haunted by how he told his children Paula Yates had died

Sir Bob Geldof has spoken movingly about his enduring regret over how he told his children that their mother, Paula Yates, had died, admitting the moment still haunts him more than two decades on.

The musician and Live Aid organiser, 74, recalled the devastating day in September 2000 when he learned that Yates, a television presenter, had been found dead from a heroin overdose at the age of 41. The news came on the 10th birthday of their youngest daughter, Pixie.
