Singer Tom Grennan is helping give thousands of Brits free access to their favourite festivals, gigs, and comedy this summer. In partnership with top ice cream brand Magnum, the popstar is joining forces to launch the very first ' Pleasure Pass ' initiative.
The pass was created in response to new research which revealed almost three in four of Brits (69 per cent) are cutting back on live experiences - such as gigs, festivals and theatre, as well as night out with friends - in order to save money. But with a pass, fans can claim free tickets to events up and down the country.
These include Boiler Room, Tom Grennan, Big Feastival, Sofar Sounds, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Greenwich Summer Sounds, to name a few. The research also found that on average two in five Brits are having less days out this year compared to last year.
Up to 62 per cent of those surveyed said they would normally attend live events, like concerts, festivals and comedy shows each year. But the new research shows that 39 per cent said they don’t plan to go to any this year.
More than 60 per cent of people are also prioritising spending on household costs, transport and utilities. Meaning their personal pleasure funds are taking a back seat, leaving Brits feeling “disappointed” and “frustrated”.
Outside of the cost of living (53 per cent), which topped the poll for the main reason Brits are cutting back on their spending for live and in-person pleasurable experiences, people also noted bills to pay (33 per cent), saving for something (26 per cent) and debts to pay off (14 per cent).
It comes as almost half of Brits cited live experiences such as music gigs, live comedy shows and festivals as activities bring them pleasure. But over half (59 per cent) feel they can’t justify the spend.
However, Magnum believes a day without pleasure is a day lost and has teamed up with some of the UK's biggest event partners to ensure people across the UK can "enjoy unrestricted access to the moments that will bring them pleasure this summer".
The public can get their hands on a Pleasure Pass by spinning the wheel online for a chance to win. Or, by finding the Magnum Pleasure Bus, which will be popping up in different UK cities across summer.
For those that win a pass, they can claim 2x free tickets to one of many amazing events across the duration of summer from the likes of Boiler Room, Big Feastival, Tom Grennan, Splendour Festival, Greenwich Summer Sounds, Sofar Sounds, Fly Open Air, Waterworks Festival, This Feeling events, JBM Presents Craig David, and Luna Cinemas.
The 'Found What I’ve Been Looking For' singer, Tom Grennan, said: “I'm buzzing to be working with Magnum on this amazing new initiative. Keeping tour tickets low and as accessible as possible is something I’m really passionate about.
"I've just done it on my recent tour so as many of my fans could come along as possible, and I love that Magnum share that same ethos. I was gutted to read the stats on how much people are cutting back on things that bring them pleasure and this initiative is all about giving back and giving people that joy and entertainment we all need and deserve right now.
"There's nothing like the euphoria and togetherness of live music - it's a feeling like no other, whether you're on stage or in the crowd - so I'm hyped to team up with Magnum on this!”
The launch of the Pleasure Pass is also in celebration of Magnum’s new Double Sunlover and Double Starchaser ice-creams, which the brand will also be giving out to lucky winners on the ' Pleasure Wheel '.
