Simon Jordan outlines EFL approval situation for 49ers Enterprises in Leeds United takeover

Former Crystal Palace owner and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan believes Leeds United will face very little resistance from the EFL given their current involvement in the club. Andrea Radrizzani has agreed a deal with 49ers Enterprises to sell his shares at Elland Road with the two parties putting the final touches on a deal.

The takeover would need to be approved by the EFL before being given the green light. Radrizzani has reportedly had to reduce his asking price by around £230million following the club's relegation to the Championship, but could well place promotion clauses into the deal.

His tenure at the club has come to a disappointing natural conclusion following relegation from the Premier League last season - a culmination of a number of poor decisions at Elland Road over the course of the past few seasons. Jordan believes Radrizzani guiding the Whites to the Premier League should not be lost on supporters, despite the dismal end to his reign.

Jordan told talkSPORT: "I would be surprised if there was going to be any protracted period of time from the EFL given they're already 44 per cent shareholders. They're already in a situation of considerable influence.

There's a lot of vitriol towards him and he is a tricky character but he was the one that set the blueprint for getting Leeds United out of the Championship.

"He was prepared to pay three-and-a-half million to get Bielsa to manage in the Championship so some credit has to be given to him."
