Sight impaired children receive VIP invite from Disney On Ice to Liverpool show

Disney on Ice is coming to Liverpool this month and a group of 10 children have been invited to be VIP guests at the show.

The sight impaired children and their families will enjoy a memorable experience, getting a behind the scenes afternoon tour, exclusive access to costumes, props and show characters, as well as hearing how the exciting ice spectacular is produced from the sound, lighting and special effects teams.

The children are supported by Visual Impairment Charity Henshaws, who have joined forces with Disney on Ice to create a magical memory for those who attend. After their behind the scenes experience, the guests will take their seats to the show, alongside their families, to experience the ice spectacular with Mickey and his friends at Disney On Ice presents Discover the Magic. The show features world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics and unexpected stunts.

Mel Cooke, Head of children, young people and family services at Henshaws, said "This is such a fantastic opportunity for our visually impaired children to experience a touch tour that allows them to feel and get a tactile experience of the characters, props and costumes etc that will be used in the show. Disney On Ice is magical to many children and to enable these young people to share this experience with their families and make lasting memories is priceless."

The children were told about their VIP surprise trip to Disney On Ice at an afternoon tea party, hosted by Henshaws at St Vincent's School for the blind in Liverpool this week. Tyler, aged 9 from Kensington in Liverpool said: "I am so excited, I have always wanted to go to Disney on ice! It will be a dream come true."

Steven Armstrong, Regional Vice-President of Feld Entertainment, producers of Disney On Ice, said: "We are absolutely delighted to invite our friends from Henshaws to enjoy the experience of a private preview behind the scenes at Discover the Magic getting up-close and personal with many aspects of this show, which captures the magic of Disney's immortal tales through cutting edge figure-skating, glamorous costumes and stunning set designs.
