Sick eight-week-old kitten found abandoned beside Lanarkshire road

A sick kitten has been found abandoned at the side of a Lanarkshire road.

The SSPCA estimate the poor animal is only eight weeks old as they appeal to the public for information.

The male kitten was found at the side of Dumfries Road in Elvanfoot, Biggar on Wednesday, July 27.

He is now currently in the care of the animal welfare charity and currently has a bad eye infection.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to get in touch.

Aidan McIver from the SSPCA told Lanarkshire Live : “The kitten is male and is estimated to be just eight weeks old.

“He was quite poorly when he was found, and has a bad eye infection.

“He is grey in colour and is not microchipped.

“He is very friendly which is unusual for a feral kitten. This leads us to believe that this is a pet who has been abandoned.

“We understand that the cost of vet bills can be worrying, but this is not the correct way to give up your animal.

“If anyone recognises this kitten or has any information on this incident they can contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
