Why D4vd’s Spotify track Marcescence is raising questions
The song Marcescence is listed at about 2 minutes and 40 seconds on D4vd’s Spotify profile. Although listeners can still see the title and artwork, the track is unavailable to play. The cover image appears to show David Burke taking a mirror selfie in a bathroom.
A YouTube upload with the same running time has added to the mystery. The video opens with Burke recording himself in a mirror before switching to clips of a road at night, where the camera moves toward distant lights and then returns to the mirror footage several times.
Some listeners believe the song is actually the unreleased track I Think She Knows . They pointed to the lyrics in the YouTube video, saying they match snippets of the song that had circulated earlier. However, there has been no official confirmation that Marcescence and I Think She Knows are the same recording. As of now, there has also been no public statement explaining who uploaded the track or why it briefly appeared on Spotify.
David Burke remains in jail as murder case heads toward July 21 hearing
The appearance of the song comes as David Burke, who performs as D4vd, remains behind bars while facing serious criminal charges in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors charged Burke in April in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Authorities allege her body was later found in the trunk of a Tesla linked to the singer. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
Those charges include murder, lewd and lascivious acts involving a child under 14, and mutilation of a body. The allegations remain unproven unless established in court.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin on July 21. During that hearing, a judge will decide whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence for the case to move forward to trial.
It is not a trial and will not determine Burke’s guilt or innocence. He remains in custody without bail as the legal process continues.
