Eddie Howe believes the arrival of Garang Kuol from A-League side Central Coast Mariners shows the direction Newcastle United are heading when it comes to young players.
The Magpies are said to have beaten off competition from Barcelona to acquire the Egypt-born teenager and Howe hopes it is the sign of things to come.
Howe said: "He's a young player of huge potential. It shows where the club wants to go in terms of signing young players and trying to develop them in our system for them to be Premier League players in the future."

The next step for the 18-year-old is likely to be a loan deal with his contract not getting confirmed until 2023. Howe said: "He's had a dramatic rise and he's in a position that excites everybody but there needs to be some patience shown.
"We need to look after him and he'll go out on loan to learn and develop behind the scenes and hopefully when he comes here he can play a part in our future."
