Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has revealed he is yet to see his very own 'Mackem Slayer' flag in person.
Designed by Newcastle defender Dan Burn, the flag was first displayed by Wor Flags on New Year's Eve at St James' Park when the Magpies hosted Leeds United. Burn's design, which beat out fellow Geordies Sean Longstaff and Paul Dummett's drawings, depicts Ameobi wearing a suit of armour, ready for battle.
The former Newcastle striker is of course fondly remembered on Tyneside for his goal scoring exploits in the Tyne-Wear derby, with Ameobi netting seven times against the Magpies arch rivals Sunderland.

The Ameobi flag is now part of Wor Flags vast array, who recently unveiled a brand new Eddie Howe flag when Newcastle took on Fulham at the weekend.
And speaking ahead of the 1-0 win over Fulham, Ameobi revealed to Sky Sports that while he is yet to see the flag in person, he believes the displays from Wor Flags show just how much the Magpies supporters love the current Newcastle side.
"Somewhere, I haven’t quite seen it yet because I haven’t been to any of our games since it’s been here but apparently there’s a little flag around with my face on it, which I don’t know if I’m dreading to see what it looks like," said Ameobi.
"Listen, it just shows you the way the fans have really taken on board this team, two and a half hours before kick-off the stadium is half full, there is a real expectation here to be winning games - we’re unbeaten here and we want to keep that going."
