'Shameful' daughter of Captain Tom shares smiling holiday snap amid row over spa

Captain Tom's daughter has been met with fury as she shared a smiling holiday snap amidst accusations the family used her late-father's name to build a private spa and pool complex.

Hannah Ingram-Moore shared a picture of herself beaming for the camera alongside husband Colin and her family on her public Instagram account.

It came amidst allegations a C-shaped block with a private pool was built without proper planning permission at their £1.2million mansion in Bedfordshire, with council officials now ordering the facility be torn down.

Plans were submitted and granted for the swanky outbuilding in 2021 - the same year the centenarian veteran sadly passed away after capturing the hearts of the nation - on the basis it would be used as a base for the foundation set up in his name.

But retrospective planning permission for the block to be used for a pool and spa was rejected, and now the family face having to demolish it.

Mrs Ingram-Moore, 52, posed with her family on a balcony on Monday in a BeReal shot shared to her 11.3k followers, only to be met with furious backlash over the pool scandal, with one calling her "shameful".

The foundation stated on Tuesday that it was closing all payment channels for donations, while the Charity Commission carried out an inquiry.

The foundation said: "At this moment in time, the sole focus of the Captain Tom Foundation is to ensure that it co-operates fully with the ongoing statutory inquiry by the Charity Commission.

"As a result, the Captain Tom Foundation is not presently actively seeking any funding from donors. Accordingly, we have also taken the decision to close all payment channels while the statutory inquiry remains open.

"Once the findings of the statutory inquiry have been communicated, the Captain Tom Foundation will be in a better position to make a decision in relation to its future, but for now, our main priority is to assist the Charity Commission with its inquiry.

"In the meantime, on behalf of the trustees of the Captain Tom Foundation, we wish to extend a warm thank you to all our supporters who have enabled us to help charities that were close to Captain Sir Tom's heart."

The foundation previously said in a statement: "At no time were the Captain Tom Foundation's independent trustees aware of planning permissions made by Mr and Mrs Ingram-Moore purporting to be in the foundation's name.

"Had they been aware of any applications, the independent trustees would not have authorised them."

The Charity Commission opened an inquiry in to the foundation in June 2022 after identifying concerns about the charity's management and independence from the late veteran's family.
