‘Severe delays’ in Nottingham expected as 11 days of roadworks begin

Nottingham drivers are being warned to expect delays as temporary traffic lights will be in place for more than a week due to Cadent gas works. Temporary traffic lights are set to be placed on Thane Road, near Boots headquarters and Lenton Industrial Estate, from February 7 until February 16 causing delays for motorists in the area.

Despite a sign displayed on Thane Road, which had caused concern for drivers, only Bull Close Road will be closed. Nottingham City Transport said its passengers on the Navy 49 can expect ‘severe delays’.

A spokesperson from NCT buses said: “Temporary traffic signals are in place on Thane Road and further works are scheduled to take place from the 7th February.

"The Highways Authority have advised us that Thane Road will remain open throughout, however we do expect severe delays to Navy 49.”

These works will be carried out at the same time as major gas works on Derby Road. Cadent Gas is currently carrying out work in Derby Road, partially closing the route until March.

Several buses have been affected by the work on Derby Road, causing some Nottingham City Transport and Trentbarton services to divert. Residents are already reporting 'serious disruption' as a result of those diversions.
