Seven people were taken to hospital following a house fire in Osmondthorpe yesterday afternoon (January 21). Firefighters attended the scene on Dawlish Avenue after the blaze was reported at 5.50pm.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Killingbeck Fire Station and Leeds Fire Station attended the incident. They arrived to find all occupants of the house had already escaped the property. All seven were taken to hospital for check-ups.
They used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to deal with the incident. The Red Cross have been requested to attend due to the property being uninhabitable and to help secure the temporary rehousing of the occupants.
Police remained on the scene of the property as it was unsecure. A fire investigation will be undertaken to determine how the blaze started.
