Senate Finance Committee Democrats have opened a formal call for public input on health coverage, asking patients, clinicians, insurers, researchers and ordinary enrollees to describe what is failing and what would fix it. Written responses are due October 2, 2026.
The request for information was released July 30 by Ranking Member Ron Wyden of Oregon along with 16 other Democrats. It is an 86-page request for feedback from stakeholders covering proposals including lowering premiums and deductibles, creating Medicare-like coverage choices, simplifying enrollment, and ending insurance practices that delay and deny care, with the stated goal of achieving universal coverage.
