A RECRUITMENT campaign has been launched in a bid to find a new boss to lead the new Inverness Castle visitor destination.
The spectacular red sandstone castle was built as a court and prison in the 19th century.
The Highland Council have been leading the project to redevelop the building after the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service moved out in 2020.
Plans for the castle include an immersive interactive experience called Spirit of the Highlands telling stories from the region.
There will also be a cafe with a view over the River Ness as the local authorities plan to turn the building into a top tourist attraction.
The Inverness Castle project is part of the £315 million Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal, which is funded by the UK and Scottish governments and Highland Council.
Fergus Ewing, an SNP MSP and co-chair of the Inverness Castle Delivery Group, stated: “We are not only seeking a visionary leader to manage the operations of a word-class visitor attraction here in the Highlands, but also someone who’s experience can ensure that every visitor's journey is exceptional and unforgettable.”
Highland Council's Inverness city and area leader, Ian Brown, said the role needed a person with a “deep passion for the Highlands”.
He said: “We are thrilled to reach this pivotal point in our project where the search begins to find an outstanding leader with a proven track record in delivering exceptional visitor experiences.”
The head of Inverness Castle Experience salary is up to £63,973 and the job involves helping to prepare the site for its opening in the summer of 2025.
Some of the key responsibilities listed include building a dynamic team, readying the site to welcome visitors, and building positive connections within the local community.
