It was a mixed bag for the Irish on Day Two as Shane Lowry stayed in contention at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The Offaly man carded an impressive five under par on Day One and continued his good form on Day Two as he sits three shots off the lead.
Lowry hit birdies on the third, sixth and ninth hole but did have a blemish of a bogey on the fourth hole.
And it was a mixed back nine for Lowry with three bogeys to match his three birdies and three pars.
And the 2019 Open Champion sits three off the lead going into the weekend,
Seamus Power did not have it all his own way as he carded a one over par 73.
Power cancelled out his bogey on the first hole with a birdie on the seventh and hit two birdies on the back nine and three bogeys and is five shots off the lead.
Three time major winner Padraig Harrington is also in Abu Dhabi and seven shots off the lead.
Italians Francesco Molinari and Guido Migliozzi both sit tied at the top.
“I’m very pleased,” Molinari said. “Same score as Thursday but very different day. Many more ups and downs than yesterday. A couple of three-putts, a couple of mental errors but also lots of good stuff, a couple of long putts made.
“Obviously a very good back nine, which is nice. I think where I’m at at the moment, when you go through a tough patch, it’s nice to see that I can pick it up again.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself. It’s a couple of good rounds but I know, I’m aware of where I’m coming from. The game feels different. I think it looks different, too. But yeah, it’s just two rounds, so a long way to go.”
