Scotland v England: World's first football international to be marked across world

THE 150th anniversary of the first international football match ever played – between Scotland and England – is to be marked around the world.

On November 30, 1872, Scotland drew 0-0 against its southern neighbour in front of 4000 spectators at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Glasgow.

The fixture is claimed to be the first official international match in the world.
