Schoolboy chooses to have leg amputated in desperate bid to stop cancer spreading

A teenage boy diagnosed with a rare cancer had his life saved - after undergoing a leg amputation.

Connor Elliot, 15, required the surgery above his right knee to prevent his bone cancer from spreading. However, it was a tough decision for Connor, who enjoys sport and has dreams of becoming a professional footballer.

The youngster was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in November last year and medics at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children recommended the amputation after examining scans and a biopsy.
