Sarah Lancashire's 'special gift' to Happy Valley cast ahead of last ever episode

Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire has got a "special gift" for the cast and crew of the hit ITV series.

The final episode of the thrilling drama is set to hit screens at 9pm tonight (Sunday, February 5), with viewers expecting a tense showdown between protagonist Catherine Cawood and criminal Tommy Lee Royce. The season three finale will be the very last episode of Sally Wainwright's Happy Valley.

To celebrate the end and success of the show, the 58-year-old lead actress teamed up with a company from Hebden Bridge, where the show is set, to prepare a "special gift" for those who helped create the programme. Sharing the news on social media, The Yorkshire Soap Company announced its new creation, a Happy Valley candle, which has been gifted to all members involved in the show.

The company wrote: "Some of you may know Happy Valley is set in our home town of Hebden Bridge and filmed across the wonderful county of Yorkshire! Whilst filming in town we had the pleasure of welcoming the amazing Sarah Lancashire into our shop, and over the summer of 2022, we worked together on a special gift from her to the entire cast and crew for wrapping the final season.

"A very Yorkshire Happy Valley Candle."

The candle's label also includes a quote from Sergeant Cawood that reads: "I'm the best copper that ever lived but Code 11... job done." The company also revealed that Sarah donated her police hat and shoulder numbers from season three which helped raise £4,500 at a charity event organised by The Halifax Ukrainian Club, Yorkshire Live reports.

The company added: "She deserves every award possible for her work on this brilliant series, and like the whole country, we'll be glued to the TV this Sunday for the final episode."

It comes after it was revealed Sarah stepped in to change the ending as it "didn't feel right". During an interview with The Big Issue, co-star James Norton, who plays Tommy Lee, said the changes have resulted in a "magical" ending.
