Sara Bareilles happily accepted a spontaneous proposal from her longtime love Joe Tippett, even though he forgot the engagement ring at the moment. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and Girls5Eva star shared the engagement story during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The couple met while working on the musical adaptation of Waitress in 2015, where Tippett played a role and Bareilles wrote the score.
The engagement took place during a sunset in Mexico City, with Tippett proposing on a rooftop while slow dancing. Despite forgetting the ring initially, he later returned with a temporary ring from a market. Tippett later upgraded the ring to a gold piece from an antique store upstate.
The couple, who have been together for eight years, announced their engagement on New Year's Day 2023. They are considering postponing the wedding to next year due to Tippett's shooting schedule. To ease the wedding preparations, they have hired a wedding planner to ensure a stress-free celebration.
Bareilles expressed her desire for the wedding to focus on the joy of their love rather than becoming a grand event. She emphasized the importance of celebrating their relationship and not losing sight of the true meaning behind the ceremony.
