On Monday at the Paris Olympics, Sam Kendricks secured a silver medal for the United States in the men's pole vault event. This achievement marked a significant comeback for Kendricks, who had previously won a bronze medal in the same event at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. Unfortunately, Kendricks had to sit out the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Kendricks' success in Paris made him one of the American athletes to medal in an athletics event, alongside Valarie Allman. However, the spotlight was on Sweden's Armand Duplantis, who clinched the gold medal for the second consecutive time and set a new world record in the process.
