Local legend, Sam Fender has given a simple message to the thousands of fans who turned out for his monumental first night at St James' Park.
It was a sea of black and white for the opening night on Friday and the set was jam-packed with classics from Sam's ever growing repertoire like Will We Talk, Getting Started and Hypersonic Missiles. And the morning after the memorable night, Sam posted a simple 'Thank You' on Instagram to the thousands of faithful fans who turned up to celebrate. Posting a series of photos on his social media page with a row of black and white hearts underneath, he wrote: "Night 1 - St James' Park. Thank You!"

Ahead of the gigs, there had been plenty of rumours of special guests putting in an unexpected cameo to add to the occasion and Friday became a real family affair for Sam as he was joined by fellow singer, brother Liam for a Bruce Springsteen cover that saw them having a total ball on stage.
