Sam Fender left drinkers in Newcastle stunned when he performed a new song to them over the Easter weekend.
The singer-songwriter popped into Prohibition Cabaret Bar on Pink Lane for a drink on Saturday night. Customers in the 1920s themed venue couldn't believe their luck when he sat down at the piano and started belting out one of his new tunes.
They fell silent as the 28-year-old, who was dressed casually in a hoodie and trainers, sang a ballad which was reportedly about his grandparents. When he finished the song from his upcoming album, he was given a huge round of applause.

Sam, who is from North Shields, was joined in the bar by his bandmate Johnny 'Bluehat' Davis, who has become well-known for playing Local Hero on his saxophone.
Prohibition Cabaret Bar said Sam had called in for a quiet drink and had "a little singalong" with their resident pianist Merlin Roxby, who was coming to the end of his set.
In a Facebook post, the bar's owner Mitch Mitchell and his team praised Sam, describing him as a "Toon treasure".
They said: "Sam then sat himself at our house piano and gave us all a wonderful Easter treat, performing a track he said was from his up coming new album, live, to a stunned Prohibition Saturday night audience!
"In this video, filmed by our Danny, you hear the audience slowly fall into silence as Sam's unmistakable voice cuts through the chatter and his humble lyrics fill the room.
"By the time he finished playing he had the whole place captivated. What a beautiful song, which he said is about his grandparents.
"Such a canny, genuine lad and of course, so talented. A Toon treasure indeed! Thanks for visiting us Sam, we all wish you the best with your new album, we'll be looking forward to it."
Sam and his band will play two dates at their beloved St James' Park on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 this year. Tickets for the gigs sold out less than an hour after being released.
