America’s tipping culture has become a pretty heated topic, with what used to be lighthearted complaints on social media turning into bigger debates about consumer rights and whether customers should have a say in how much they tip. A viral TikTok video has added to that debate after a salon employee apparently decided how much a customer should tip for her.
The video, uploaded by creator @emrykaiser, has racked up more than 6.7 million views, with the creator using her frustrating checkout experience to highlight what she and many viewers see as an “out of hand” tipping culture in the service industry.
