Sadio Mane picks out best moment and favourite goal from Liverpool career

Sadio Mane has spoken about his best Liverpool career moments after completing a £35.1m move to Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

Bayern will make an upfront payment of £27.5m, with £5m based on appearances and a further £2.6m on individual and team achievements. This comes just a few weeks after Mane had indicated that he would be open to a new challenge following the Reds' Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.

Mane spent six successful years at Anfield, making 269 appearances while scoring 120 goals - putting him 14th in the club's all time leading scorers list.

In a farewell interview, the 30-year-old was asked about his favourite memory in a Reds shirt. "Wow! I think it’s good but not a difficult question I will say!," he told the club website. "I will go first of all for 2019 when we beat Barcelona at home, that was incredible, and as well when we won the Champions League. For me, so far that is the best, best moment, or the moment that will stay forever in my head, for sure."

He then went on to describe his first goal against Arsenal as his most favourite. "Wow! I will say my first goal at Emirates Stadium against Arsenal on my debut.

"And then after, my second goal, I will say against Bayern Munich, against Manuel Neuer! Sorry Manu, I am coming but I think the second goal was also unbelievable! So, I will pick these two goals."

The 30-year-old also revealed he will remain a Liverpool supporter for life. "I am going to be Liverpool’s No.1 fan – after the supporters!

"After every one of my games in Munich I will come to the dressing room and I will watch Liverpool, for sure, because I am going to be Liverpool’s No.1 fan forever."

Mane won six major trophies under Jurgen Klopp - the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Bayern initially had two opening offers for Mane knocked back but after a third offer had arrived at Merseyside last week, the agreement was only a matter of time. But the striker was curiously not originally on Bayern's summer shortlist. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic shared that a meeting over extending Serge Gnabry's stay at the club led to Mane's name being mentioned for the first time.

"That was when the name of Sadio Mane was mentioned for the first time, as he's also represented by Björn. During the talks I thought to myself: 'Something is possible!' - As Björn was leaving, I asked him how big the chances really are," he told Sport Bild.

"When I heard that Mané rejected all Liverpool's attempts to extend his contract, I was immediately interested. Two days later, Julian Nagelsmann, Marco and I were on a plane to Liverpool."
