When the Miami Dolphins selected safety Jevon Holland out of Oregon in the 2021 draft, there were a lot of questions about how he’d be able to play at the NFL level due to him opting out of his final collegiate season.
Holland stepped up to the challenge and was the team’s starting safety just a few weeks into his rookie year. He finished the season totaling 69 tackles, 10 passes defended, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
The safety even earned some national recognition by being named to the PFWA’s All-Rookie Team.
Holland made an appearance on the “GoTime Dolphins” podcast, where he gave a shout-out to his partner in crime, Brandon Jones, and told the hosts how he feels about being a Dolphin.
“Brandon is a hell of a player, and I just look forward to working with him, honestly, for as long as possible,” Holland said. “That’s my dawg, man. I want to be a Dolphin for my entire life. Really, I love it down here. It’s paradise. I want to be a Dolphin for my whole life, man.”
These are great things to hear from Holland, especially after the team moved on from his head coach at the end of the season. That didn’t seem to change his love for the city of Miami and the organization that he plays for. Holland and Jones could be a solid safety combination for a long time.
