Ryanair announces seven new routes from London

Fancy squeezing in a final top-up to your summer tan before winter officially arrives?

As the days begin to get shorter and the nights draw in, the temptation to jet off and catch the last of the autumn sun is difficult to resist.

And now, thanks to Ryanair, Londoners will have some more options to choose from.

The budget airline has announced it has added seven new routes from London to its winter 2023-24 schedule. Additionally, Ryanair will increase frequencies on 30 routes, including Alicante, Athens, Bratislava, Cologne and Faro.

Included on the new list from London are flights to Treviso, the Italian birthplace of prosecco and tiramisu, as well as Vigo in Spain and Tirana, the capital of Albania.

You can also check out Ouarzazate, Morocco’s Little Hollywood, Poprad in Slovakia, and Basel in Switzerland for its famous Christmas market. Or, if you fancy somewhere closer to home, you can now hop over the Irish Sea for a beer in Belfast.

All the new flights will take off from from either Gatwick, Luton or Stansted airports, bringing the total number of routes from London to 162.

To celebrate, the additional routes and aircraft the airline has launched a two-day seat sale with fares available from £29.99.

Ryanair group chief executive Michael O’Leary said: “Ryanair is pleased to add seven new routes this winter from London to Belfast, Basel, Poprad, Ouarzazate, Tirana, Treviso and Vigo, as well as increased frequencies on another 30 winter sun and city break routes.”

O’Leary also said that he expects demand to decrease as people struggle with the cost of living crisis and that fares, which rose quickly after the pandemic, may fall over the next six months.

“We’re seeing very strong demand,” he said. “What’s unusual is this is the second year in a row we’ve seen very strong demand at very strong prices. That can’t continue.”

Ryanair is forecast to carry more than 183 million passengers this year, compared with 149 million pre-COVID. The airline recently agreed a 300-aircraft order with Boeing that should take passenger numbers over 300 million.
