Following the announcement that the next season of Ryan Murphy‘s serial killer biopic series Monster would focus on the Menendez brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez, we’ve just copped our first proper look via Netflix’s trailer.
ICYMI: Netflix previously announced that “following the record-breaking success” of its controversial Season One featuring Evan Peters as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, two more installments are on the way.
Here’s everything we know about Monster Season Two — AKA Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — so far.
Who is Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story about?
The second season of the successful but despised series will chart the shocking story of the Menéndez brothers, who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez.
According to Variety, Netflix revealed it has “exclusive access” to Lyle and Erik Menéndez to participate in a documentary feature from Campfire Studios.
The case recently returned to the headlines due to the Peacock docuseries Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed which spotlighted the allegation by Roy Rosselló, a former member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, who alleges he was sexually assaulted as a teenager by Jose Menéndez, the boys’ father.
The brothers themselves were also sexually abused by their father.
Who will play the Menéndez brothers in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story?
To no one’s surprise Ryan Murphy selected the cast from within the family. American Horror Story alum Chloë Sevigny will be playing the role of the boys’ mother Kitty Menendez.
Javier Bardem, who you might recognise from playing Julia Roberts‘ hot love interest in Eat, Pray, Love, will be starring as Jose Menendez.
Newcomers Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will be taking on the roles of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez.
Is there a trailer?
There sure is and it is chilling:
Where can I watch Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story?
