PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has already given Manchester United two reasons to pursue Cody Gakpo after suggesting he could leave the Eredivisie as soon as next month.
Gakpo, 23, made his mark at the World Cup by scoring three goals for the Netherlands as they reached the last-8, before losing to Argentina; the eventual champions. It underlined his promise on the global stage after Gakpo had already totted-up staggering numbers for PSV this season.
Indeed, the versatile forward netted 15 goals and provided 18 assists from 29 matches in all competitions before he led the line for ex-United manager Louis van Gaal and the national team in Qatar. His impact there was noted down by Van Nistelrooy, 46, who needs no introduction at Old Trafford following his own spell there as a player.
