Ruben Neves makes Arsenal admission after sparking fury before Wolves defeat

Wolves star Ruben Neves admitted his side did not deserve to beat Arsenal after their late heartbreak at the Emirates.

The Gunners edged a 1-0 win at Molineux earlier this month and Neves angered fans by claiming they "celebrated like they had won the league".

But those celebrations were dwarfed by the jubilant scenes at the Emirates after Jose Sa's stoppage time own goal completed a late comeback for Mikel Arteta's side.

Wolves had led for most of the game after Hwang Hee-chan's early opener - but they were unable to hold on after soaking up pressure.

And Neves conceded the better team won after he had felt hard done by at Molineux a few weeks ago.

Neves said after the game: "We didn't deserve to win to be honest.

"We had some good chances to score, but we didn't play well. They took us back all the game after going 1-0 up and we just defended.

"When you don't have the ball against these kind of teams you will suffer. We need to manage the ball better against these kinds of teams.

"This was an important game for us and for the league but this is the Premier League and everyone will drop points. We just want to go game-by-game.

"We will look at ourselves and do better."

Manager Bruno Lage, meanwhile, apologised to opposite number Mikel Arteta after confusion over a late substitution angered the hosts.

However, the Portuguese manager vowed to insisted he was "proud" of his team, who now face a huge clash against West Ham on Sunday.

Lage told Amazon Prime: "This is football. It is 96 minutes and we need to be in the game all the minutes.

"We had three good chances to go 2-0. Arsenal then come and score two goals and get the three points. It was a good game. I think we deserved more than we got but this is football.

"I am proud of my players. We played well, we came here to play with our personality. We don't win together but now is to recover and go again against West Ham."
