The 2022 Royal Ascot promises to provide a fascinating week of racing - and it all gets underway today.
With the Gold Cup on Thursday, the St. James’s Palace Stakes this afternoon is the first major showpiece of an event that is among the most important dates on the racing calendar.
Plenty of hot favourites are set to take to the course with a fair few bright sparks for the future also worth keping an eye on.
Here are three horses to look out for this week...
Little Big Bear (5.35 Wednesday)
The Coventry on day one will reveal plenty about the quality of the Irish juveniles versus their British counterparts. Little Big Bear could have run in the Coventry but he has lots of pace and should be hard to beat here. He bolted up at Naas last time.
Kyprios (4.20 Thursday)
This son of Galileo could be the next big thing in the staying division. He's only had six starts and he is out of Polished Gem, a smart mare, and it seems at this stage of his remarkable career that Stradivarius may be a little vulnerable now. It promises to be a hell of a race.
Twilight Jet (3.05 Friday)
It looks an open Commonwealth Cup this year. Michael O'Callaghan has been aiming for this race almost since this colt ran here as a juvenile last season. He looked very good on his reappearance.
