Former captain Roy Keane has accused Paul Pogba of failing to produce the consistency expected of him during his second spell at Manchester United.
Keane made the admission ahead of Pogba making his first appearance for United since November in Friday evening's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.
The visit of Chris Wilder's side presented Pogba with his first chance to impress interim manager Ralf Rangnick, with the Frenchman having been sidelined ever since the German replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The coming months promise to be key in shaping the Frenchman's future as he is out-of-contract at Old Trafford in the summer and he is not expected to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
Reflecting on Pogba's second spell at United, Keane said he believed he has lacked the consistency required to bring the success he was expected to at the time of his return to the club in August 2016.
"How many times do you have to say it about Pogba? He is an outstanding talent, no doubt about it," Keane told ITV Sport.
"He's got the CV and the trophies to back it up, but in his time at United I don't think he's been consistent enough.
"It is a big few months ahead for him from a selfish point of view, if he's looking at moving, or could he possibly be staying at Man United?
"We don't know with the manager, but a talented boy but hasn't done enough at Man United, he hasn't been consistent enough."
Pogba, who has won two trophies since returning to Old Trafford, returned to United with huge expectations weighing on his shoulders. However, he has failed to live up to expectations.
"When Pogba came in, he was a big player with a big reputation," Keane added.
"You have to turn up week-in, week-out and he doesn't do that and that is so frustrating when he's such a talent."
