Ronnie Whelan the latest celeb guest at Conor McGregor's pub The Black Forge

Ireland and Liverpool football great Ronnie Whelan is the latest in a long line of celebrities to stop by Conor McGregor's pub The Black Forge.

The 60-year-old smiled as he posed with one of McGregor's UFC belts draped over his shoulder.

He's not the only sporting celebrity to pay a visit never mind the even longer list of famous faces from the world of music and entertainment to have shown their face at the Crumlin establishment.

Earlier this month Shelbourne boss and another Boys in Green hero in Damien Duff was seen in a similar photo with the belt.

And Ian Wright was also there a few months back while in town. As for the wider list, the most famous person to make an appearance thus far is probably comedian Kevin Hart although self-proclaimed 'King of Instagram' Dan Bilzerian and his 33.6m followers might disagree.

Others to pop by include rapper Coolio and X Factor singer James Arthur.

McGregor himself hasn't been in in a few weeks as he continues to enjoy his latest holiday abroad in Majorca with fiancée Dee and their three kids.

In one of his most recent posts, he and Dee attended a Friday night concert along with hundreds of other revellers while in another they caught up with his sister Erin and Aoife as they enjoyed a day out at a water park.

It comes after the 34-year-old issued a worrying injury update that fueled speculation we're not likely to see him make his return to the octagon until 2023.

He posted online: "If you can’t hold your leg out straight at high kick level and maintain your balance and control here, you can’t kick to the absolute level that you can kick at.

"I cannot yet kick to the absolute level I can kick it. But I’m aware of where I need to go. Awareness is half the battle won in combat. I have the awareness that still despite all I am levels above all of those in my radar space of future fighting opponents."
