Ron Rivera says it’s ‘all positive on Chase Young update

Sunday was a good day for the Washington Commanders. Not only did Washington defeat the Green Bay Packers 23-21 to improve to 3-4 on the season, but the team also received some potentially good news regarding defensive end Chase Young’s comeback.

Remember, head coach Ron Rivera said last week that Young would meet with the doctor Sunday, and then both sides could determine when Young could begin his 21-day practice clock.

Before the game, Young was seen on the field doing drills and looking completely healthy, outside of the knee brace on his surgically repaired right knee.

After the game, Rivera was asked about Young’s meeting with the doctors.

“Everything was pretty good,” Rivera said. “He did a workout which we sent to the doctors as well, and for the most part, we will get the update on Wednesday as to what we are going to do for sure. But it was all positive.”

That continues the trend of the recent good news surrounding Young’s rehab. If the doctors determine Young is ready, he could begin practice this week and potentially play next week in Indianapolis.

Is that likely? Who knows. But it is possible. Once the Commanders begin Young’s clock, he has three weeks to either return or be shut down for the season. Young hasn’t come this far to be shut down. If he’s cleared, he’s playing soon.
