Roman Kemp may present to millions of listeners on a daily basis but the nerves got the better of him when he came face-to-face with the Duchess of Cambridge over the weekend. The Capital FM host was busy co-hosting the Platinum Party at the Palace coverage on Saturday night (June 4).
The epic musical event saw musical stars from throughout the decades take to a giant stage outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The big concert kicked off with Queen Elizabeth II having tea with Paddington in a surprise sketch filmed before the festivities.
Then, it was over to Queen and Adam Lambert to open to music extravaganza with the likes of Alicia Keys, Eurovision's Sam Ryder, Duran Duran with Nile Rogers and Diana Ross taking to the stage in front of a whole host of royal guests - including the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - as well as thousands lining the Mall and millions more watching around the world.

Following the concert, an after party was held at Buckingham Palace and joining Kirsty Young for the Platinum Pageant overage on the BBC on Sunday (June 5), Roman shared a glimpse into what happened the previous night, which included the lights having to be switched on to get the partygoers off home.
"What I can't believe is at an after party at Buckingham Palace, I'm going to say this," the 29-year-old said. "They turned the lights on to make everyone leave, that's the funny thing."
"I didn't stay that late," confessed Kirsty Young as Roman continued: "It got so late and you know when you go to a nightclub, I literally went from under-18s Destiny nightclub in Watford where they turn the lights on at the end to still turning lights on at the end at Buckingham Palace."
But the funniest, and slightly most awkward, part of it all was Roman doing away with all royal protocol. "I’m terrible at royal protocol when you meet a royal and what you have to say," Roman told Kirst and Nile Rogers who joined him on the sofa opposite Kirsty. "I make mistakes all the time. Yesterday, Princess Kate was there," he continued, with Kirsty swiftly stepping in to correct her title.
"She looked amazing," Roman said, adding: "I saw her and she said, 'you look great' and I said to her 'wow, yeah you look really fit!'" He then revealed how he tried to claw it back, saying: "'No not like that!'" he stressed. "Then I went, 'you look amazing.'" Luckily for Roman, he said the Duchess laughed and thanked him for his compliment.
