Rodney McAree hailed the significance of Glentoran's late win over Ballymena United in midweek.
Just when it looked like the Glens had spurned another opportunity to climb the table Danny Purkis popped up with a crucial winner to move his side up to fourth in the table.
While it was not a classic encounter at The Oval, McAree believes it was an important result ahead of Saturday afternoon's trip to Carrick Rangers.

"That result for me has been a long time coming as I feel you always need to win a game late on or that feeling of success late on," he said.
"It wasn't a tremendous game of football, it's not a high scoring game but to get over the line and three points is important.
"It'll only be important if we beat Carrick on Saturday.
"It has to give everyone a boost by moving up to fourth. Ultimately, it's just another three points on the board.
"Yes, we have moved up a couple of places but we just have to concentrate on getting our next three points as quickly as we possibly can. We will see where we are at that stage.
"You think if you had done better in certain games and performed a little bit better, then we would be sitting in an even better position and that's the frustrating thing.
"All clubs will look at certain results and performances and think they could have done better. I'm just glad we got the three points."
